Obscure
A review by Bruce Elder of the BBC documentary Dancing in the Street, Part 6 (?) in The Guide, Sydney Morning Herald, March 13, 2000 :
"There are still thousands of middle aged men (and a few women I guess) who gather regularly to discuss the lyrical nuances of a minor Minnesota born songwriter. It's sad really. They are held together in the aspic of their long past youth. Well, here it is all again. The importance of Bob Dylan on popular music. Gee, folks, he changed the nature of pop lyrics. He is, according to his blind fans, the greatest poet/artist/songwriter of the century.
Admire the quality of this excellent series, but marvel also at the foolishness that - in an age of the Spice Girls and Shania Twain - argues that some old, irrelevant fogey deserves to be lionised. The times have truly changed and Dylan fans just don't get it."
